Last updated on Feb 13, 2025

Optimizing your ARK: Survival Evolved server ensures smooth gameplay, reduced lag, and improved server stability. Poor performance can result in rubberbanding, long load times, and high CPU usage, which negatively impacts players' experiences.

This guide will walk you through tweaking performance settings, reducing resource usage, and optimizing server performance using VolticHost Game Panel.

📌 Prerequisites

1️⃣ Adjust Server Tick Rate and Network Settings

  1. Log in to VolticHost Game Panel.

  2. Click on your ARK: Survival Evolved server.

  3. Navigate to the Startup tab.

  4. Locate the Use Optimized Network Settings option and set it to True.

  5. If experiencing lag spikes, enable:

    ?UseDynamicTickRate=True

  6. Click Save Changes.

Your server now runs with optimized networking!

2️⃣ Reduce Dino and Structure Count for Better Performance

  1. Navigate to the File Manager tab.

  2. Open the following file for editing:

    /ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/GameUserSettings.ini

  3. Under [ServerSettings], add or modify these settings:

    DinoCountMultiplier=0.75
    StructureMemoryCap=0.8

  4. Click Save File.

Your server now uses fewer resources by limiting excessive dino and structure spawns!

3️⃣ Adjust Auto-Save Intervals to Prevent Freezes

  1. In File Manager, open GameUserSettings.ini.

  2. Locate or add the following line under [ServerSettings]:

    AutoSavePeriodMinutes=10

  3. Click Save File and restart the server.

Auto-save runs efficiently without causing lag spikes!

4️⃣ Lower View Distance and Update Rate for Players

  1. Open GameUserSettings.ini again.

  2. Add or modify these settings under [ServerSettings]:

    ClampResourceHarvestDamage=True
    AllowHitMarkers=False

  3. Click Save File.

Players will experience fewer FPS drops while maintaining gameplay balance!

5️⃣ Restart the Server to Apply Changes

  1. Navigate to the Console tab in VolticHost Game Panel.

  2. Click Stop to shut down the server.
