Setting Up and Configuring Server Rules and Messages on an ARK: Survival Evolved Server

Adding server rules and automated messages helps inform players about guidelines, upcoming events, or server notifications. You can set up automated welcome messages, periodic rule announcements, and custom chat messages on your ARK: Survival Evolved server.

📌 Prerequisites

• An ARK: Survival Evolved server purchased at VolticHost.com

• Access to VolticHost Game Panel

• Desired rules and messages to display in-game

1️⃣ Enable and Edit Server Messages

1. Log in to VolticHost Game Panel

2. Click on your ARK: Survival Evolved server.

3. Navigate to the Startup tab.

4. Locate the Message of the Day (MOTD) field.

5. Enter a message that will appear when players join the server.

   Example:

   Welcome to the ARK server powered by VolticHost! Be respectful, no griefing, and have fun!
   

6. Click Save Changes.

✅ Your MOTD is now displayed when players join the server!

2️⃣ Set Up Periodic Announcements

1. Navigate to the File Manager in VolticHost Game Panel.

2. Open the following file for editing:

   /ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/GameUserSettings.ini
   

3. Add or modify the following under [ServerSettings]:

   ServerAdminPassword=YourAdminPass
   AutoSavePeriodMinutes=10
   MessageInterval=600
   ServerMessageInterval=10
   

   • MessageInterval=600 → Sends messages every 10 minutes.

   • ServerMessageInterval=10 → Controls chat notification frequency.

4. Click Save File.

3️⃣ Add Custom Server Rules and Guidelines

To display custom server rules in chat or when players join:

1. Open GameUserSettings.ini.

2. Add the following at the bottom:

3. Save the file and restart the server.
